detailed Description

Dental titanium rods have become the most popular material in dentistry due to their excellent biocompatibility, and are the preferred material for dental inlets (such as dental implants, root posts, etc.).

Titanium is a non-toxic, non-allergenic metal that can integrate well with human tissues and bones, avoiding the body's rejection reaction. After entering the human body, the titanium rod will naturally form a titanium oxide (TiO2) protective film on the surface, which helps bone integration, and the alveolar bone can be stably combined with the implant to ensure the stability of the implant.

Due to the complex oral environment, unstable pH value, and long-term exposure to saliva, food residues, etc. Titanium is extremely corrosion-resistant, can resist acid and alkali, and is not easy to rust or degrade, thereby ensuring the long-term stability and safety of the implant.

The strength of titanium is close to that of steel, and its density is indeed 60% of stainless steel, making titanium-made dental inlets both strong and not easy to break, and will not bring a heavy feeling to patients. At the same time, its good toughness and fatigue resistance can withstand long-term chewing pressure without breaking easily.

Titanium rods can be made into various dental implants, such as dental implants, root posts, denture brackets, etc. through CNC precision processing, and can be customized according to patient needs. In addition, titanium rods can be further improved in bone bonding ability through surface treatment (such as sandblasting, acid etching, anodizing, etc.).

The most popular dental grades

In the dental field, commonly used titanium rods are mainly divided into pure titanium (CP-Ti, Commercially Pure Titanium) and titanium alloys. The specific grades are as follows:

1. Pure titanium (CP-Ti)

Pure titanium is divided into Gr1, Gr2, Gr3, and Gr4 according to the ASTM F67 standard. Among them, Gr4 (fourth grade pure titanium) is the most commonly used in the dental field because it has the highest pure strength and good bone capacity among titanium.

Grade Purity (%) Tensile strength(MPa)  application
Gr1 ≧99.5 240 Suitable for gravity supported but low bearing entrance objects
Gr2 ≧99.4 345 Commonly used for medical inlets, but the strength is lower than Gr4
Gr3 ≧99.3 450 Entrance buildings designed to withstand enlarged staircases
Gr4 ≧99.2 550 The first choice for dental implants, high strength and good corrosion resistance

Advantages of Gr4 pure titanium: Compared with low-grade pure titanium (such as Gr1 and Gr2), Gr4 has higher strength and good biocompatibility, can stably support the crown for a long time, and reduce the risk of fracture of the dental entrance body.

2. Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V & Ti-6Al-4V ELI)

Titanium alloy can also be used in some high-demand dental portals (such as full-mouth fixed bridges, complex implant systems). The most commonly used alloys are Ti-6Al-4V and Ti-6Al-4V ELI (in accordance with ASTM F136 standard)

Grade Main Ingredients Tensile strength(MPa) application
Ti6Al4V 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium 860-900 High-strength inlet equipment, suitable for high-load scenarios
Ti6Al4V ELI 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, 4% vanadium(Ultra-low clearance) 795-860 Best biocompatibility for high-end dental implant systems

Advantages of Ti-6Al-4V ELI:

ELI (Extra Low Interstitial) means that the material contains less oxygen, nitride, iron, etc. than ordinary Ti-6Al-4V, and has higher biocompatibility and better tissue acceptance.

Its strength is higher than Gr4 pure titanium and is suitable for high-impedance oxygen gases, but due to its greater strength, the processing strength is greater than Gr4.
