1. Definition of the standard ASTM F136 Ti-6Al-4V ELI (extra low interstitial) alloy (UNS R56401)

 

ASTM F136 is the standard specification for wrought annealed Ti-6Al-4V ELI (extra low interstitial) alloy (UNS R56401) for use in surgical implants.

 

2. Scope

It covers the chemical composition, mechanical properties and metallurgical requirements of wrought annealed Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Extra Low Interstitial) alloy (R56401) used in the manufacture of surgical implants. Products are classified into bars, forged bars and wires.

 

Thermal analysis shall comply with the specified chemical composition requirements. Product analysis tolerances do not extend the specified thermal analysis requirements but cover differences between laboratories in chemical content measurements. Tensile and bend tests shall be performed to meet specified requirements.
